Atascadero Cooperative Preschool is a non-profit, parent participation preschool that has been nurturing children and families for more than 50 years. We believe that children receive the best education with the active participation of parents working alongside a teacher in a play-centered, developmentally appropriate learning environment. We inspire children to learn hands-on through curiosity, imagination and creativity with diverse opportunities for social, emotional, cognitive, language and motor growth. We provide children with a positive environment where they are welcome and free to explore and learn to their greatest potential. We desire to connect families together and hope parents and children will feel part of a supportive community.

We are a member of CCPPNS (California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools), PCPI (Parent Cooperative Preschools International), the Atascadero Chamber of Commerce and we are licensed by the California State Department of Social Services, and fully conform to all state laws regulating child care and school facilities.

The Atascadero Cooperative Preschool is a green organization!  Each day we take steps to reduce our ecological footprint and make our school a healthy place for children. We use all natural, non-toxic, biodegradable cleaning products.  We compost our fruit and veggie scraps and use the compost for our school garden.  (School families are welcome to take compost home for their own gardens as well.)  We have a permanent shelf of recycled products available for children to build and create with. Our gardens are filled with trees and shrubs that attract bees and birds.
